The story behind Embody Arts

I've spent much of my adult life exploring one question:

What helps us come home to ourselves?

That question has shaped both my professional work and my own personal journey.

I began studying naturopathy, nutrition and remedial massage in 2000, drawn by a fascination with the body and the many influences on our health and wellbeing.

Since then, that curiosity has taken me in many directions — from years of hands-on bodywork, to teaching movement through Yoga and Pilates, exploring permaculture and natural living, and engaging in practices that deepen our relationship with ourselves and the living world around us.

On the surface, these paths may seem quite different. For me, they've always been connected by the same underlying interest: how do we live with greater awareness, connection and a deeper sense of ourselves?

From working on the body to working with it

My years as a remedial massage therapist gave me an intimate appreciation of the physical body. Over time, though, I became increasingly curious about what physical approaches alone couldn't always reach.

I began to notice more deeply the relationship between our bodies and our inner experience — how emotions, beliefs and patterns of protection can become expressed physically, and how bringing awareness to what has been operating unconsciously can open the possibility for something different.

My interest gradually shifted from simply doing something to the body towards creating space to listen to and work with it.

Discovering Spinal Energetics felt like a natural continuation of that journey — bringing together many of the threads that had interested me for years: the body, nervous system, energy, awareness and consciousness, while keeping each person at the centre of their own experience.

The way I work

My approach is gentle, grounded and curious.

I don't see my role as having the answers for you or directing where your experience should go. Instead, I aim to create a safe and present space where you can become more deeply aware of your own experience and allow your body and awareness to lead.

My work is informed by formal study and more than twenty years of working closely with people, but also by the quieter parts of my life — living close to nature, motherhood, community, and my own continuing exploration of what it means to live with greater presence and connection.

For me, Embody Arts is ultimately an invitation to come home to yourself — not by becoming someone different, but by becoming more deeply connected with who you already are.
